Wellington weather has caused trouble for the ice rink at Queens Wharf this week.

Manager Gareth Webber said the wind this week had made it hard to maintain the ice quality.

"Once we are underway again we should be underway properly."

He said the problems are nothing like the issues the rink faced last year when a broken chiller shut the rink for days.

"We have new chillers this year, so that won't be a problem."

The ice rink is scheduled to re-open today, March 27.

For up-to-date ice conditions and price information call 0800 ICE WORLD.

The rink will be in Wellington from March 21 till May 5.
