Runcimans' customers will be able to Snapper their bus fares from August 31.
Using Snapper will allow Runcimans' customers to enjoy easier, faster and more flexible bus travel, says general manager Matthew Lear.
By snappering their bus fares, customers simply need to tag on at the start of their journey and tag off at the end and Snapper will calculate the zones travelled and charge the correct discounted fare, he says.
It will allow for more flexible access to public transport.
"Go Wellington and Valley Flyer both offer customers the ability to pay for their fares with Snapper. Now that Runcimans will be offering this option as well, customers will be able to use one card for all their bus travel in both the Hutt Valley and Wellington."
To support a smooth transition to Snapper and to provide all Runcimans' customers who have an OmniCard with the opportunity to pay by Snapper, a free swap out has been arranged.
"To obtain a free Snapper, OmniCard holders simply need to grab an application pack from their driver, complete the application form and return it and their OmniCard to the driver. Any balance remaining on the OmniCard will be read and transferred to the new Snapper," Mr Lear says.
Application packs will be available from drivers from August 24 and must be completed and returned to the driver by August 28.
Customers will receive their pre-loaded Snapper on August 28, Mr Lear says.
Omnicards will no longer be accepted on Runcimans buses from August 31.
Omnicards may also be swapped for a free Snapper at any of these Snapper stands: Runcimans' office (4 Masefield St, Upper Hutt), Monday, August 24 to Friday, August 28, 8.30am-5pm. The Mall, Wednesday, August 26, 9am-5.30pm, Thursday, August 27, 9am-5.30pm, Friday, August 28, 9am-8.30pm, Saturday, August 29, 9am-4pm. Snapper Office (Level 3, 40 Johnston St, Wellington), Monday, August 24, to Friday, August 28, 9am-5pm. Temporary Snapper Service Store (Courtenay Central, ground floor, Courtenay Place, Wellington), Thursday, August 27, noon to 7pm, Friday, August 28, noon to 7pm, Saturday, August 29, 10am-5pm, Sunday, August 30, 10am-5pm.
