Paralympian swimmer Mary Fisher got a send-off from Upper Hutt before she left for London last week.

Former Olympians Brian Newth and Harry Kent shared their experiences with 50 people at the Upper Hutt Cosmopolitan Club.

New Zealand Olympic Centre co- ordinator Stephen Donnell, who lives in Mangaroa Valley, added his extensive Olympic knowledge and Labour Party leader David Shearer joined in to wish Fisher well in her quest for gold.

The evening was organised by Rimutaka Lions Club.
