At 71, Tricia McKnight, of Carterton, is still leaving her competitors in her wake.
She was the winner of the women's 70-99 category at the Capital Classic Wellington Sovereign Ocean swim on Saturday and says she had a fantastic time. It was her first sea swim in four years and she did the 750m in Wellington Harbour in a time of 19 minutes 43 seconds.
Tricia swims 6km a week in the Genesis Energy Recreation Centre's Trust House Pool and is a member of Masterton Masters Swimming Club. She joined Masters 28 years ago, not long after the association was founded.
She didn't learn to swim until she was 45.

Wow, she's an inspiration - at 44 I still haven't learned to swim properly - good to see there's still hope.
