The Great Carterton Wheelbarrow Race was held in Memorial Square on Saturday with sports organisations and businesses entering teams in the race around the square.

The more adventurous attempted the 13km run from the Gladstone Inn.

The long wheelbarrow race was won in record pace by the team of Roman Travers and Craig Gush in a time of 56.01.

The top three teams were all under the previous record set in 2008 of 1.01.26.

Greg Lang and John Sage set a time of 58.16 and Trish Morison and Paul Furket came in on 59.04.
