Wairarapa Police CIB have launched an inquiry following the discovery of a local 70-year-old woman at a Featherston address.

Initial inquiries have revealed circumstances which are of concern to Police.

The woman was found on Wednesday morning by a friend in her home after they were not able to make contact over several days.

The scene has been secured with a detailed scene examination and post mortem underway.

Police will not be releasing further details until the next of kin can be informed.
