Police have launched a homicide investigation after a man was found dead in the Auckland suburb of Manurewa this morning.

Emergency services were called to a Primrose Pl address around 2.15am after receiving complaints about disorder.

A 59-year-old man was found unconscious and emergency services were unable to revive him despite performing CPR.

A neighbour said she heard a fight break out across the road at about 2am yesterday morning.

"There was shouting and things crashing and smashing," she said.

This morning the cul de sac was cordoned off.

"It's scary that this sort of thing can happen on your street."

Another elderly neighbour said swearing and shouting late at night was a common occurrence on the street.

"I don't like it. I don't feel safe here."

Police are still at the scene, piecing together the events leading up to the man's death.

A scene examination is being carried out and a post mortem will be performed later today.
