Ohakune police are investigating the unexplained death of a 9-year-old boy.
He was found in his Raetihi home early this morning.
Detective Senior Sergeant Keith Borrell said a family member found him dead and notified emergency services.
"We hope to have a post-mortem completed by late this evening. At this stage the cause of death remains unexplained," he said.
Police were interviewing witnesses and examining the scene.
