A 65-year-old Wellington woman who went missing today has been found safe and well.

Irihapeti Matiaha, who has Alzheimer's disease, left her Paparangi/Johnsonville home at 9am this morning.

A member of the public found her in Houghton Bay this evening, and drove her to Wellington central police station.
