A skateboarder dislocated their shoulder when they collided with a car in Wellington today.

Inspector Ian Harris said the crash happened on Rangoon St, Khandallah just before noon.

The driver of the car was ''shaken up'' but uninjured, Mr Harris said.

In a separate incident about the same time, two cars - one towing a trailer - collided on State Highway 2 near the Petone off-ramp.

No-one was injured in the crash, but the trailer was blocking one of the northbound lanes.

Traffic was flowing smoothly, Mr Harris said.
