The wedding of Parliament's Speaker, Lockwood Smith, was an occasion nothing short of a political who's who.
Dr Smith married Alexandra Lang at Parliament on Saturday, tying the knot on their friendship of nearly 40 years.
The pair were sweethearts in the 1970s but lost touch until a chance meeting in 1999.
To celebrate the wedding day, Dr Smith sang You Are the Only One to his new wife, accompanied by Jo Clayton.
Prime Minister John Key was among the guests, as were former prime ministers Jim Bolger and Jenny Shipley, former National leader Don Brash and former Cabinet ministers including John Banks and Bill Birch.
Diane Foreman, who gained notoriety after she was publicly linked to Dr Brash in Parliament, was a member of the bridal party.
The wedding went off without a hitch and was organised with military precision unlike many of the rowdy parliamentary debates Dr Smith must preside over as Speaker.

Lol DD. Not likely! The power bill and cleaning bill probably would have been paid for by us! I just hope they paid for their own catering....
I hope Dr Smith paid a fee to use Parliament for his wedding.

Politicians weddings ...are not news.Lockwood Smith seems to be a good Speaker of the House – lets just leave it at that ...we don’t need to be confronted on a Sunday morning with his nuptials or who was on the guest list (although light entertainment to mitigate the shock of having to consider once again the private lives and sex lives of our various political figures)....
