A bag snatching at Porirua train station has been caught on CCTV and posted on Facebook.

The footage has captured a group of three girls eyeing up another girl as she waits alone at Porirua train station on Wednesday evening.

Just as the trio leave the station with two others who look to be friends, one grabs the girl's bag and runs off down the tunnel.

Porirua police have posted the clip to their Facebook page and are asking anyone with information to contact them on 042381401 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The incident happened between 7.30pm and 7.50pm.
