A multiple-car crash on the Johnsonville - Porirua motorway this morning affected traffic into the city.

The four or five car nose-to-tail crash happened about 8.40am.

Police central communications spokesman Ian Harris said the right-hand southbound lane just before the Johnsonville off-ramp was blocked.

He said there were no injuries.

The lane was cleared by 10am.
