An accident on the Johnsonville-Porirua motorway delayed traffic into Wellington this morning.

A nose-to-tail at 8.05am left debris on the southbound lanes of the road near the Grenada Village off-ramp on State Highway 1.

A police spokesman said the scene had been cleared and traffic was moving smoothly by 9.20am.

There were no injuries and tow trucks were expected to clear the road.
