Police are searching for a 14-year-old Porirua pair who have been missing since New Year's Eve.

Senior Sergeant Derek Chapman of Porirua police said the boy, Daniel Bostock, and girl, Summer Aung, were thought to be travelling together and were reported missing by their families.

The pair were last seen at their homes, and were believed to have both left between 6pm and 11pm on December 31.

Sergeant Chapman said Daniel had taken a backpack of clothes with him. It was likely the teens intended to be away for a few days, and could be staying with a friend or family member who might not be aware they had been reported missing.

Police would like to speak to the teens or anyone who has information about their whereabouts.
