A scrub fire in Waitangirua which was reported to have briefly threatened houses has been extinguished.

Fire communications said the blaze had been quickly put out by Porirua fire crews.

Two fire engines attended the scrub fire in Waitangirua, which fire communications was a fire around 23 metres wide.
