A slip blocked parts of Rimutaka Hill Rd this morning.

State Highway 2 across the Rimutakas was down to a single lane at a slip about 7.5km from Featherston.

The NZ Transport Agency reported the slip about 4.45am blocking the southbound lane.

Stop/go controls were in place and motorists were urged to be cautious.

The road has now been cleared.
