Wellingtonians are advised to embrace the weather this weekend, with an ugly storm coming in next week.
The capital was in for a mostly-fine weekend, after a few spots of rain cleared tomorrow, WeatherWatch forecaster Philip Duncan said.
"Sunday's not looking too bad though."
Cloudy periods and light northerly winds were forecast, Duncan said.
After a week bringing the first frosts to the lower North Island, temperatures would return to early autumn conditions.
"Generally speaking, we'll see highs around the late teens and overnight lows lifting up, as they've been fairly low this weekend," he said.
"Next week looks milder as well."
However, on Monday another front would bring showers to Wellington, Duncan said.
"It'll warm up again towards Friday ahead of what looks like quite a stormy system ...that could drive in gales, rain and showers to central New Zealand.
"So the first two weekends in May are very, very different."
