After five days of spectacular weather, rain is due tomorrow – but the sunshine will return.
MetService forecaster Stephen Glassey said cloud would increase through tomorrow, with rain and northerly winds in the afternoon.
The rain could be heavy in the evening.
Forecaster Nic Bonnette said an accurate longer-range forecast was harder to predict, due to an unpredictable deep low to the north of New Zealand.
However, some scattered rain was expected in Wellington on Thursday and Friday, with a wet start to Saturday.
By Sunday, the sun would be back, with a clear, fine day and temperatures up to 16degC.
