After withstanding strong winds, rain and southerlies during the weekend, Wellington will be rewarded with a week of fine, sunny weather.

MetService forecaster Brooke Lockhart said the tonight's wet weather will continue tomorrow morning, before easing in the afternoon.

"There's some rain developing overnight, and rain tomorrow, though that will be easing in the afternoon."

She said the wind will change to a southerly in the morning, though it would not be particularly strong.

But from Monday onwards it will be different story.

"[We'll have] a fine week, with some cloud.

"It'll be a pretty good week."

The last of the straggling drizzle is set to pass on Monday morning. Then, from Tuesday to Friday, the forecast is for fine, sunny weather.
