A broken down truck which was partially blocking one lane of The Terrace Tunnel has cleared, the New Zealand Transport Agency says.

The truck had pulled over at the southern end of the Terrace Tunnel in the one lane area after the merge.
As there was a "bit of smoke" coming from the truck, the Fire Service had attended the scene.

Motorists were still advised to expect delays as congestion eased.
