It was a mime's paradise as Wellington quite literally came to a standstill.

Marking World Environment Day more than 500 people stood motionless for five minutes on Lambton Quay at 1pm yesterday.

It was the second annual "freeze event" to raise awareness and action on climate change.

Organiser Nick Potter said the event doubled in size in Wellington and nationally more than 1000 people took part in the freeze.

Is the standing motionless meant to symbolize humans not emitting carbon? I don't see any of them complaining about real issues, three country's ruined for ever by depleted Uranium, I don't see or hear anyone complaining about GM foods being released into the environment. Earth had been in a steady warming period from the little ice age that warming period stopped from 1998 as of which point a slight cooling began which has increased in speed in the last few years and much more in the last year due to abnormally low sunspot activity. The sun drives earths temperature variations, mans impact on the climate is negligible when put next to the sun and volcanic activity. OK so if it is man causing this so called warming through carbon output how is moving industry to third world country's that are not part of the Kyoto signatory meant to make a difference? even full member compliance with Kyoto would “avoid” only about 0.05 degree C of warming over the next 50 years—by the alarmists’ own math. The emperor has no clothes, grow up people.

I love the old lady at about 1:10. She doesn't seem to be able to fathom what she is seeing! Great concept :-)
