A motorcycle crash that was blocking the Terrace Tunnel has been cleared and the rider taken to hospital, police say.

A motorcyclist who came off their bike near the Terrace Tunnel, brought peak hour traffic to a stop shortly before 6pm this evening.

The crash, in the northbound lane of the motorway near the Terrace Tunnel under the Hawkestone Street bridge overpass was causing traffic delays.

The lane had reopened after an ambulance had taken the motorcyclist to hospital. The rider's condition was unknown at this stage, a police spokesman said.
