OPINION: I write to express my incredulity at the Pope's stance on the equality law in Britain. To be honest, I am not sure why he is concerned about admitting homosexuals into the priesthood. The other priests are assumed heterosexual and there doesn't seem to be an issue with admitting them to the priesthood; after all, don't all priests undertake a serious vow to be celibate? (And hasn't that worked out well?) Why would he think that homosexual priests would behave worse than their heterosexual counterparts?

I realise this is just one aspect that the Pope is concerned about, but perhaps he could act a little more enlightened and consider that the gay community may have something to offer the church.
