Maverick Maori Party MP Hone Harawira says he did not mean to enter a bill apparently flouting his party's confidence and supply agreement with the Government.

Mr Harawira today put forward a member's bill seeking to entrench Maori seats.

In the confidence and supply agreement signed between the parties after National's 2008 election win, a paragraph states ...''the Maori Party and the National Party will not be pursuing the entrenchment of the Maori seats in the current Parliamentary term''.

Maori Party co-leader Tariana Turia appeared this afternoon to be caught unawares by news Mr Harawira had entered a bill for entrenchment of the seats.

She said she had not seen the bill Mr Harawira had entered.

"It would be difficult if he has done that," Mrs Turia said.

Mr Hararwira emerged shortly afterwards saying the bill had been entered by mistake and he would be withdrawing it.

In response to Peter Pan comments...I think if you believe Hone when he said that he made a mistake then you must be Peter Pan and away with the fairies.

Hone is up on the Tui’s billboard and it says “cross my heart ….it was a mistake” YEAH RIGHT!!

Hone and is sidekick Willie Jackson should be ignored and removed from the public main stream media for inciting division!

How do your party leaders not 'see' or know about a members bill? That's laughable.

The Maori Party need to get rid of this turkey real quick. Wacko as his mother, he is rapidly making them an object of derision.

It is about time that not only were the Maori seats abolished but also the referendum on MMP should be initiated well before the next election. NZ tolerates an extraordinarily large amount of race based legislation and practices. It should be embarassing to a country which once opposed apartheid. Today the same protestors are supporting differential treatment based on race. There seems to be an agenda to make Maori dependant upon being set aside from mainstream NZ. This does put Maori in a second class social and economic status. Dependancy is inevitable and presently creates significant resentment by those who have become used to being treated as being unable to help themselves. Problems being created now will be with us for a very long time.

I can not understand why we as the taxpayers pay our tax to have this person who is a polictical activist. He should be down the road as his place is outside government!

Who really cares about what he wants as he has no respect for others that do not see what he sees!!
