New Zealand golfer Danny Lee carded four birdies and a bogey on his way to a three-under par 67 and a share of 17th place after the first round of the European Tour's Dutch Open in Hilversum, the Netherlands, today.
Lee is five shots off the pace set by Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts, who finished with eight-under 62 to hold a two-shot lead over Englishman Kenneth Ferrie and Indian Shiv Kapur.
The two other New Zealanders in the event, Michael Campbell and Mark Brown, face a battle to make the cut.
Campbell is tied for 102nd after a two-over par 72 while Brown is 152th in the field of 156 after a seven-over par 77.
Campbell birdied four of his first seven holes but dropped six shots over his remaining 11 holes with two bogeys and two double bogeys.
Brown carded seven bogeys and failed to register a birdie in a disappointing opening round.
