Wellington swimmer Gareth Kean has become the second Kiwi through to a final at the swimming world championships in Barcelona.

Kean took the final qualifying spot for tomorrow’s 100m backstroke final.

He joins Lauren Boyle who earlier broke her national 1500m freestyle record to qualify for that event.

The 400m freestyle bronze medallist from the opening day took 14 seconds off her New Zealand record to finish sixth fastest in the 1500m and will contest the final tomorrow.

What do you think of the white peace poppy campaign?

I'm all for the white poppies.

I like the idea, but the timing's wrong.

It's contemptible and insulting.

I don't care.
