It was a MacDermid one-two, at Saturday's Dorne Cup.

Kara MacDermid, 16, made no race of the open women's event, negotiating the 6km course at Trentham Memorial Park in 22:00. That saw her finish 58 seconds clear of little sister Zia, with local favourite Tina Harris (Wellington Scottish) a further 16 seconds back.

Kara MacDermid, from the Feilding Moa club, was 14th in last year's 3000 metres at the World Youth Championships and is still eligible to race at that level. She already has two New Zealand under-18 3000-metre titles.

Cameron Goldsmid won the 8km men's race, in a trifecta for Wellington Scottish. Club mates Nick Horspool and Luke O'Donnell were second and third.
