St Pat's Town star Brook Ruscoe is close to sealing a dream basketball scholarship in the United States.
The 17-year-old shooting guard impressed during the Junior Tall Blacks' tour of Germany earlier this year and New Hampton High School, Brigham Young University and the University of Utah are interested.
Ruscoe, who scored 40 points for St Pat's Town against Mana College on Friday, has sent DVD and YouTube footage of his play to the US.
"It's all positive," he said. "I played all right in Germany, so people will know about me. It was a really good scouting opportunity. Hopefully, it will be resolved within the next month."
Ruscoe was one of nine Wellington secondary school players to be picked in national age group tournament teams this month.
Wellington under-17 duo Scott Sharp and Kiki Kiriau (both St Pat's Town) were selected in the New Zealand team alongside Mana College's Arana Kenny, who played for Porirua.
Hutt Valley's Milomilo Nanai (HVHS) and Awhina Karawana (St Oran's) were both selected in the New Zealand under-17 tournament team.
Porirua's Ruscoe and St Pat's Town teammate Jake Ashby were selected for the New Zealand under-19 tournament team, along with Wellington players Hemi Pairama-Lewington (Wellington College) and Micah Lepaio (St Pat's Town).
