CLAYTON'S BAN: Steven Luatua's three-week suspension will have little impact on the Blues' Super Rugby campaign.

Blues forward Steven Luatua has been suspended for three weeks following a dangerous tackle in his side's 41-34 loss to the Chiefs, but he will not miss any Super Rugby.

Flanker Luatua was given a yellow and white card during the game for a tackle on new All Blacks lock Brodie Retallick in the 33rd minute, when he lifted Retallick in the tackle so he came down on his back.

Luatua entered an early guilty plea, reducing the suspension from six to three weeks which is effective immediately and goes through until June 23.

The suspension will  have little impact on the Blues and Luatua though because of the June international window.

Super Rugby takes a three-week break for the tests between northern and southern hemisphere nations, and given Luatua is not involved in this weekend's North versus South match in Dunedin, he effectively goes unpunished.

The Blues have a bye when Super Rugby resumes later this month so their next game is not until July 7, against the Force.
