The Hurricanes have locked in snappy halfback TJ Perenara for a further two years.
Currently out with a broken ankle, Perenara has signed a two-year deal with both the Wellington Lions and Hurricanes beginning in 2013.
"I'm excited to be with Wellington and the Hurricanes for another two seasons," Perenara said.
"This is my home and I can't wait to get back on the field and play some footy."
Hurricanes head coach Mark Hammett believes Perenara has the ability to fulfil his enormous potential.
"TJ made a good start in his first season with the Hurricanes and we are looking forward to continuing to work with him to develop his game and continue the progression of his career.
"He works hard off the field to learn and develop his game and I’m sure he will come back better and stronger in 2013 after his injury," Hammett said.
Hurricanes and Wellington CEO James Te Puni said signing a born and bred local of such talent was significant for the area.
"He is one of our own, straight from Titahi Bay and has had a huge impact this year. TJ is a loyal and committed young man. It is fantastic to see him stay to continue his career in the capital."
