STARS IN HIS EYES: Sir Peter Jackson is getting a spot on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Sir Peter Jackson says he's "chuffed" at his latest accolade - a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"Being honoured with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame alongside the names of some of my childhood heroes is slightly surreal and incredibly awesome," the Oscar-winning director said.

Jackson is one of 30 stars of movies, television, music, radio and stage to be honoured with a star on Hollywood Blvd. next year.

The recipients were selected from among hundreds of nominees, and the chairwoman of the Walk of Fame selection committee for 2014-15, Maureen Schultz, said the selections represented the best of the entertainment industry.

The Walk of Fame comprises more than 2500 stars embedded in the footpaths along 15 blocks of Hollywood Blvd and three blocks of Vine St in Los Angeles.

Dates have not been scheduled for the star ceremonies, and recipients have five years before their invitations expire.
