Thirteen finalists have been chosen for New Zealand's Next Top Model, and they're an eclectic bunch.
The models, unveiled on the first episode on Friday on TV3, range between blondes, brunettes and red heads.
The show is the first New Zealand adaptation on the successful American format, hosted by Tyra Banks, which is in its 12th season.
The show was a ratings winner for TV3, winning its time slot with a 29 percent share of the 18-49-year-old audience bracket.
More than 1000 young Kiwi women auditioned in front of judges Sara Tetro, Chris Sisarich, Colin Mathura-Jeffree.
Producer Anna Lynch says the team was overwhelmed with the calibre of the contenders.
"The problem wasn’t who to leave in - it was who to leave out. We had dozens of girls who all deserved a place in the final 33 - and choosing the final 13 was nigh on impossible."
The girls have moved into a house in Auckland together. The first competitor will be eliminated on Friday's show.
"Some of them had never been on a plane before," said Lynch.
"Suddenly they’re in front of the nation’s foremost fashion photographers, they’re being styled and made-up by the best in the business."

LOL how random...I went to school with Olivia and Lucy...Go Kavanagh! LoL
Look considering this is our first time doing a NZ top model, i feel we have done well. Nothing is ever going to be perfect and be appealing to everyone, however anyone who has a dream in modelling would find this to be the ultimate opportunity to fulfil that.I think all the contestants were gutsy and had more kaha than anyone who has nothing encouraging to say. Its not about what we sound like with our accents its about opportunity to be the best that you can. Congratulations to everyone involved, judges and crew. As for our polynesian beauties well yes they are out there, all i can say is don't give up, we shouldn't have excuses for anything, it may be a bias industry, presumptions are just that you gotta work hard no matter what you do....doesn't matter its your attitude that will succeed. WELL DONE AOTEAROA
I think that Christobelle will win, she is really beautiful, just needs to wear less make up. I think Ruby will come second. All of the girls are really pretty and I dont think they are too skinny, its just the way they are but airbrushing probably makes the girls look alot skinnier than they actually are too.
i hate teryl-leigh! i am so glad she is out! i think ruby and christobelle will end up in the final 2 in the competition. and i think christobelle will win. she is only 16 years old and she is such a great model! she won last episodes challenge and she was called first.
Ruby Ruby Ruby, she's gorgeous. Absolutly stunning
Christobelle i think is so beautiful and wish her gud luck in this compitition. all the models are so skinny but most grls do want to luk like that, lets be honest here. wen you see the grls on tv they are nothing than wat some of the grls luk like on the run way so the judges have pickd them out well. ruby has such a gud body with a lil bit of fat on her (im smaller than her) and she got into nz top model. its amazing hw all the grls luk so different yet in their different ways luk stunning on the show..wish i could do modeling!! thos grls are VERY lucky to be doin what their doin!!!
Ruby alll the way. she is the most real!
Hi, I enjoy watching the show. However some of the girls look too skinny.I'm very dissapointed about the exit of AJOH. I think that the task she could not partcipate in was a culture problem,so the show did not do it's homework, and a different task could of been applied to suit all girls. I pray and have great HOPE for AJOH in all she has done and been through. She will be a fantastic model. You Go Girl. JUDY......
