Our Lorde is more interesting than our Lord, according to trends that track what people are searching online, and from where.

Pop royal Lorde, 17, otherwise known as Ella Maria Lani Yelich-O'Connor, was the most-searched New Zealander in 2013, according to Google Trends.

She was the third-most searched person overall, coming in behind Paul Walker and Cory Monteith who both died in 2013.

More Kiwis searched "Who is Lorde" than the perennially popular "Who is God?" or "Who is Jesus?", according to the results.

Interest in Lorde has skyrocketed since her double-Grammy win on Monday, with searches in New Zealand increasing more than fivefold since the awards ceremony.

Searches for Lorde's music on YouTube have jumped tenfold since the Grammys.

The list of top-10 countries for Lorde searches include Australia, Canada and the USA, as well as some surprises like Nepal which slid in at ninth place.

Lorde's greatest fan base outside New Zealand was in the Caribbean, with Trinidad and Tobago coming in second, and Jamaica ranking third in the number of Google searches for the teenage star.

At home, Taranaki was the most Lorde-obsessed region over the last 12 months, followed by Hawke's Bay and Southland.

Lower Hutt was the city with the most interest in searching for Lorde on Google, relative to anywhere else in the country.

Across the Tasman, Lorde is even more popular - with Australian cities searching the "Royals" singer more than any city here.

Sydney and Melbourne were home to the most Lorde searches, and even Brisbane and Perth topped the number of Aucklanders searching for information on the star.
