Rihanna's risque outfit left fans scratching their heads when she took to the stage in Times Square.
The 21-year-old singer appeared to have forgotten to put on her trousers.
The pop star performed live on Good Morning America wearing a blazer, fishnet stockings and high heels.
She later revealed that she had planned to wear a different outfit but had to switch at the last minute.
'My dress ... I guess I'm a little too fat right now ... the zip busted. They wanted to stitch it up but I couldn't," she said.
Rihanna's new album Rated R is released this week.
