Tony Veitch to return in 2010

Shamed broadcaster Tony Veitch will return to the air next year as a radio sport presenter and reporter.
The former TVNZ sports newsreader will take up a position on Radio Network stations Newstalk ZB and Radio Sport from early January, a press release issued today said.
Veitch, 34, admitted assaulting his former partner Kristin Dunne-Powell in a widely-publicised court case earlier this year and was sentenced to nine months supervision, 300 hours community service and a $10,000 fine.
He said he was pleased to be returning to the airwaves.
"I'm incredibly grateful to The Radio Network for giving me this opportunity to get back to doing what I love, and the only career I've known," he said.
"While many things have changed over the past 18 months, my passion for sport remains the same. I've missed it desperately, and I now look forward to once again utilising my skills as a journalist and a broadcaster."
Veitch was suspended and then resigned as Radio Sport breakfast host on July 17, 2008, and was dumped by TVNZ around the same time.
TVNZ spokesperson Megan Richards said there were no plans to re-hire Veitch.
"We have’t had any contact with Tony and there are no plans to," she said.
