A south Auckland student has a lot more friends after winning a radio station promotion which will bring Canadian teenage pop sensation Justin Bieber to her school for a 30 minute concert.
Bieber arrived in Auckland last night to be greeted by more than 500 screaming young fans at the airport.
A public concert in Sydney was called off by police who said teenage fans were in danger of being crushed.
He is to give a short concert at Strathallan School in Papakura today but the organisers said it was private, open only to the school's year 6 to year 13 students.
Extra security was at the school and deputy principal Robyn Drummond said no unauthorised people would be allowed in.
She said the young student who won the competition had made a lot of new friends at the school when they learned Bieber was giving a concert.
Bieber, 16, said on Twitter today his airport welcome last night was crazy but he was unhappy someone stole his hat.
He shot to world wide fame a year ago after releasing his debut single One Time and was discovered through YouTube.
