One character to die in Sex and the City movie

Cynthia Nixon has revealed a main character dies in the upcoming Sex and the City: The Movie.

The actress - who revealed this week she was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago - refused to name the unlucky person, but said the loss would devastate lead character Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker.

She said: "A character dies in the movie. There's a loss that happens that's pretty tough. Something significant happens to Carrie, and it really forces her to ask questions that you have to ask about yourself."

While it is unknown who dies, it could be Charlotte York-Goldenblatt - played by Kristin Davis - who falls pregnant but may suffer complications.

Another possible candidate is Kim Cattrall's maneater character Samantha Jones, who was diagnosed with breast cancer in the final series.

In one of the later episodes of the hit US TV show, Carrie's love interest Mr Big - who she is rumoured to marry in the film - has open heart surgery.
