Celebrities from across Hollywood's spectrum have arrived for the start of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's annual Costume Institute Gala.
This year's event is being held to celebrate the museum's latest exhibition, Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy.
Musicians Beyonce and Mary J Blige lined up alongside actors Sarah Michelle Geller, Katie Holmes and model Claudia Schiffer as the stars walked the red carpet in New York.
Newly engaged actress Scarlett Johansson also made an appearance, but her fiance Ryan Reynolds was nowhere to be seen.
