Avril Lavigne set to take YouTube's top spot

Pop star Avril Lavigne is less than one million hits away from scoring the No. 1 most viewed video on YouTube - but doubts have been raised over how her massive ratings have been achieved.
Girlfriend, the first single from Lavigne's 2007 album Best Damn Thing, has had 88,907,202 views on the video sharing site at the time of writing.
That's less than one million views away from YouTube's biggest video, Evolution of Dance.
But doubts have been raised as to whether Lavigne's video has really been watched that many times.
Fans have set up a website that refreshes every 15 seconds, adding to Lavigne's Girlfriend view count.
The website's creator said: "Avril Lavigne's Girlfriend music video is less than one million views away from becoming the most watched video of all time on YouTube.
"So what we're attempting won't be easy but ... Bahh who am I kidding? Of course it will be easy because we have a secret weapon."
The website, which has boosted the clip's tally by just under 120,000 views since it launched on June 19, encourages fans to keep the site open to boost Girlfriend's views.
YouTube has a strict policy that prohibits the use of automated systems to increase page impressions.
It was enforced earlier this year when a fan-made clip of Brazilian band Cansei de Ser Sexy's song Music Is My Hot Hot Sex reached the top spot in record time, before being removed.

Avril deserves it simply because it says 'most viewed' of all time, not 'best quality' of all time. Its not about how awesome it is, because if there was a video of Jesus Himself, it would pwn, but it doesnt automatically get 'most views' until the counter has the most hits.

Yes she does because before any of the BS gossip, she was gaining. Evolution of Dance had a 6 month headstart and if it was more popular, the lead would have INCREASED, not DECREASED.
Avril is amazing live by the way! And has an amazing voice. Girlfriend is her song and she did not rip it off someone else! She knows how to write songs really well and deserves it. There is not many artists who can sing,play guitar,write their own songs,play drums and piano! Well done Avril
Yes I think Avril deserves the no. 1 spot because YouTube has disabled the counts used by automated systems and has deleted all of those views, addtionally Avril's videos are not embedded anywhere else but in YouTube, unlike Evolution of Dance's video wich is embeded all over the internet. It is quite amazing that Avril's video has managed to rack up that many views without embedding, I Avril's video had been allowed to be embedded by RCA it would have already far surpassed the Evolution of dance video long ago. Also the Evolution of Dance video has been out far longer than Avril's video and it has caught up in record time, proving the imense poularity of the song worldwide. Also Avril's song Girlfriend was the most legally bought and downloaded song of 2007. Actually, if Youtube hadn't deleted Britney Spears music videos, "piece of me" and "gimme more", then avril would of never been the most viewed music video on Youtube. Britney would've been the most viewed. Avril payed Youtube to delete Britney's music videos so avril could be no. 1. isen't that unfair?? shame on them.
Youtube should delete the avril lavigne video when it gets close to beating evolution of dance.
