Dr Horrible out to shake-up establishment

Joss Whedon - better known for television shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel and Firefly - is trying to shake up the television industry with an experiment in online entertainment.
Born out of the Hollywood writers strike earlier this year after writers were left twiddling their thumbs, Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog is billed as an 'internet series event'.
The 'super villain musical' stars Neil Patrick Harris (How I Met Your Mother), and Whedonverse alums Nathan Fillion (Firefly, Desperate Housewives) and Felicia Day (Buffy the Vampire Slayer).
Whedon says the concept was to show how much could be done, with little in terms of resources.
"The idea was to make it on the fly, on the cheap - but to make it. To turn out a really thrilling, professional-ish piece of entertainment specifically for the internet."
The musical will be split into three installments, with part one streaming on the internet on July 15, part two will go live on July 17 and the final part will go up on July 19.
There are plans to release the show on DVD, packed with extra features, to try to pay back the cast and crew, who worked on the project for free.
