Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves welcomed their first child together, a baby boy, in California last night.
The Failure to Launch actor remained with Brazilian model Camila, 24, as she gave birth to a 3.3 kilogram baby boy at 6.22pm last night.
He said: "A healthy baby boy was born. Camila and I were side by side the entire time. We are both tired and elated, and are so happy to have created the greatest miracle in the world - having a child and making a family.
"Now comes the greatest adventure - raising one, together."
The name of the couple's new son has not yet been revealed.
The 38-year-old actor recently spoke about how he was preparing for the arrival.
He said: "One thing I've heard that's consistent is that whatever plans you make, throw them out the window because it's not a science. But I've got the instincts for it, and I know Camila does, and I'm looking forward to the big adventure."
Matthew's Fool's Gold co-star Kate Hudson also had no doubts about his potential to be a fantastic father, adding: "I think he will be an incredible dad. I think because people see Matthew always out doing something - whether dancing in a bar or on the beach or hiking with some crazy bandana - they take that image and just run with it.
"Matthew happens to be one of the most loving and loyal people I know and his family is important to him. He's great with kids and I think he'll be a very responsible and absolute blast of a dad."
