What the Kiwi gossip mags say
Relevant offers
Struggling to keep up with a breaking story, the mags recap an old interview with Tony Veitch in which he admits he's a "difficult person to go out with". Really?
In a 2003 interview with Woman's Day, the TVNZ sports presenter professes his love for Kristin Dunne-Powell - his "soulmate" who he last week admitted assaulting in 2006 and secretly paid $170,000 to keep the incident out of the media.
After a week in which the breaking story led most national papers and TV news bulletins, you'd have to say that money wasn't well spent.
"I think she deserves a bloody medal," Tony told WD in 2003 while stroking a fluffy white cat, alongside a photo spread of the couple canoodling during happier times.
"She understands where I'm coming from. It's usually hopeless with any person trying to figure me out. I am a difficult person to go out with."
You've certainly proved your point, Tony.
Meanwhile, radio presenter Polly Gillespie has been in Hollywood pashing celebrities and making them cry. She was supposed to be interviewing them.
"Donald Sutherland marched past me and froze ... he just swept around, came back, grabbed me and kissed me - on the lips," a breathless Polly tells WD.
"Everyone was standing there looking at me with something between horror and shock."
Shouldn't you be used to that look by now?
Polly then made Christina Applegate cry by passing on this bitchy message from Eva Longoria: "Will you tell her I love her and I'm a huge fan and I think she's such an amazing woman."
Rude cow. Those Hollywood celebs can be so catty.
Elsewhere, the mags are too late to report on the double addition to Brangelina's brood, but there are plenty of other celebrity babies to 'ooh' and 'aah' over.
Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban welcomed their newborn daughter Sunday Rose last Tuesday. Reports that they celebrated by cooking and eating a Sunday roast couldn't be confirmed.
And Matthew McConaughey named his first tot with girlfriend Camila Alves 'Levi', possibly after his favourite brand of jeans.
He's still not wearing shirts, but at least Matthew is wearing pants these days.
Other stars who hit the headlines this week:
*Brad Pitt has taken time out of raising six children to give his blessing to ex-wife Jennifer Aniston and her new relationship with musician John Mayer. WD reports Brad has given Jen and John - let's call them 'Mayerston' - the "thumbs up". Just to be sure, Jen, you'd better confirm with Brad that you can let John take it to second base.
*Justin Timberlake played a major role in the birth of Jessica Alba's first child. New Idea reports his performance as a Speedo-clad porn star in The Love Guru made Jess laugh so hard she went into labour. While watching the Mike Myers flick, she doubled over in hysterics and 'felt something go'. Two days later she gave birth to daughter Honor Marie. Justin's package isn't that small, is it?
*There's only one photo you need to see this week. No, it's not Tom Cruise and little Suri waving American flags in Woman's Weekly. And no, it's not Oprah Winfrey slurping down the biggest glass of champagne you've ever seen in NI. The winner is WW's snap of Jim Carrey wearing his girlfriend Jenny McCarthy's one-piece bikini in Malibu. Someone got the Borat DVD for their birthday.
Finally, the quote of the week comes from Coldplay's Chris Martin: "There's nothing weird about calling your baby Chewbacca - or Sarah - if that's what you want to call your baby."
Yep, but who's going to pay for all the years of counselling they're going to need, huh?

Who in thier right mind would kiss Polly Gillespie. The thought of it almost made me hurl. She definitely has a face best kept on the radio.
All this talk about him paying her $100k oh wait $170k puts it all on him. It has been reported on TV One news that that amount was requested by her for compensation. So did he pay her to keep quiet, or did she demand the money to keep quiet? Either way, I don't condone what he's done, but like they say "that is sooooo last week!!"
He's "paying" for it now!! Let us move on...
Yes... I also would like to know who started this all off and i agree with Rebecca about the amount. How much is true ? Personaly i never liked the guy, dont know why ???? as i have never met him. I thought him to be a proper "show-off" he had a big head and he thought he was "god" In short.... he liked the attention. Well he sure got it now. I don't envy him and never have.
I feel really sorry for Tony Veitch, how can he possibly live on less than 700,000 per annum, if he gets the bullet from his job. Hey the Auckland City Mission have some wonderful food parcels that should get him through the tough times, or he could get a job as head sychophant for Paul Holmes[the most important person in the universe]A disgusting individual here in Christchurch got six months for punching his wife, well deserved, but there again he was poor.
I wonder if Veitchy will be seeking a refund??!
All I can say is POOR POOR Zoe... his wife. Whats she got herself into ?
My mistake I didnt read the articles just saw his face on the cover! yes your right he has made one statement and an interview to Holmes His 'mate'.
the media needs to realise we are over the Veitch story and so should they be... obviously there just isnt enough news in the world!

Tony's cool, he'll pick himself up dust himself off and start all over again. People will forgotten about it in a few months from now. He'll be back.
