Mr T's Snickers ad 'offensive to gays'
Relevant offers
A British commercial for a chocolate bar featuring The A Team star Mr T has been pulled over concerns it could cause offence to homosexuals.
The commercial features Mr T firing chocolate bars at a speed walker for being "a disgrace to the man race".
It has been criticised by the Human Rights Campaign and has been pulled from screens by American chocolate giant Mars.
It opens with the former star of The A Team crashing through a building on the back of a truck and pulling alongside a man speed walking in tight yellow shorts.
Mr T yells at him: "Speed walking. I pity you fool. You a disgrace to the man race. It's time to run like a real man."
He then repeatedly fires Snickers bars out of a cannon at him, forcing the victim to break into a run.
The commercial ends with the slogan: "Get some nuts."
The ad was first broadcast in Britain on July 13, and just two complaints were made to the Advertising Standards Authority.
But The Guardian reported the ad caused a storm overseas.
The Human Rights Campaign criticised Mars for perpetuating "the notion that the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community is a group of second class citizens and that violence against GLBT people is not only acceptable, but humorous".
A spokesperson for Mars told The Guardian that the ad was meant to be "fun".
"We understand that humour is highly subjective, and it is never our intention to cause offence.
"Accordingly, we have pulled the Mr T Speedwalker ad globally."
The video has been viewed 165,000 times on YouTube.

wow. why do the homosexuals get offensive bouut this stuff. i know that there are alot of things that really is meant to hurt them or go against them but this isnt one of them. im a strong believer in letting the homosexuals do whatever and i know plenty of them and i dont judge them. but even after watching this over and over its has nothing to do with the homosexuals. the shorts arent even tight and if your speed walkin then thats how it you walk and im sure it was suppose to be like that to be funny. get some nuts. that saying has nuthing to do with the homoseuals one of the best thing in a snickers is the nuts. i just dont understand why there has to be so much conflict for something so small.
I didn't pick this guy as gay at all. What do the human righters think indicates his sexuality? Hair colour, clothing, gait? All speedwalkers have that gait because they have to put their heels to the ground with each step. This is another case of a few do gooders trying to manipulate everyone. I agree with the above..USE the Remote.
mr t advert is not homophobic
i can sympathie with mr t's comments i think that the advert was wrongfully banned all because the gay factorial groups got the wrong end of the stick the advert was in no indecation of being gay or racist the adverts plot was telling an useless runner to gain more energy by hurteling snickers bars at him and mr t's comments was wisecracking and funny i have never seen mr t bieng racist or homophobic because i have grown up of watching mr t in the ateam and other 80's shows and if people complain about adverts like these why dont they simply watch something else by using a remote myself like mr t is not racist or homophobic.

We should just put them all on an island somewhere, then bomb it into oblivion.
Who let these people speak for us? No wonder everybody hates us.
I'm confused - how is the speedwalker gay and where are the Human Rights Campaign coming from? Are all male speedwalkers gay? Because that's the only way this ad could be seen as offensive.
If any group of people should be offended by this ad, it should be male speedwalkers, regardless of their sexuality, who are being told they are not real men for taking part in this form of exercise!
All that add is suppose to do is a few things...
Most importantly be funny... Sell Snickers Chocolate bars... Remind us of Mr T.
What a load of PC hogwash - as a proud member of the SMW (Straight Men and Women) Network, I find the act most humorous in the extreme. The PC response from the HRC i consider a form of veiled "Heterophobia" is it a crime for Mr T to wear his 80s machismo on his sleeve and lament the rise of effemminate, nerdy looking chaps wearing ball crushers.
BTW more awareness of the concept of heterophobia and the SMW is long overdue!!!!
"That which does not kill us makes us stronger!"
Yours the Caped Crusader and for the last time neither I am Robin are gay!!!!
Perhaps I missed something, but I didn't see any reference to homosexuality.

this isn't even offensive to gays. it is just saying that men, whether they are gay or straight, should be running as opposed to speed walking.
