New poll names the best boy band

AWESOME FOURSOME: British act Take That have been named the world's greatest boy band in a new poll.

Take That have been voted the 'greatest boy band' in a poll.

The British group took the accolade in the vote of 5000 music fans by website onepoll.com, beating acts including The Beatles and Jackson Five to the top spot.

A spokesperson for onepoll.com said: "This has to be down to their amazing comeback."

The Beatles - considered by many pop commentators as the original boy band - took second place, Jackson Five came third and Irish four-piece Westlife finished fourth.

US 60s group The Monkees, who had their own hugely popular TV show, rounded off the top five.

Take That’s return to the spotlight began in 2006, 10 years after they originally split. The group - Gary Barlow, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Howard Donald - had a UK No. 1 single with their comeback song Patience, while comeback album Beautiful World also reached the top spot in the UK charts.

The band also won a prestigious Brit awards in 2007 for Patience, while in 2008 they took home two more accolades - Best Live Act and Best British Single.

The group are currently in the studio recording the follow-up to Beautiful World.

Jason recently promised fans they wouldn’t stray from their pop background.

He said: "Of course it will be a pop album - what else could we do? You do get some bands where their egos take over and they come back with a rockier sound but we know what we are good at and we are sticking to it."

Take That’s new album is lined up for a Christmas 2008 release.

Was it compiled by the same guys who found Bigfoot?

Take that are the best at what they do! West life are good at singing cover songs but so are quite a few folks at the local karaoke! (Saw West life in concert once and they were miming most of the show. Was terrible.

Take that's 2009 tour has just gone on sale and has just broken the record in the UK for the fastest selling tour of all time with 700,000 ticket sales in just 6 hours.

Hard to argue with that!

I think you would have to say The Beatles wre the best in their time and Take That are the best in theirs!

I agree, Take That are the best Boy Band (if they can still be called that!) It's a stupid phrase anyway!

Anyone that has seen take that perform live would have to agree that they are the best at what they do. This week for example their 2009 tour went on sale in the UK and were the fastest selling in UK history. They sold 700,000 tickets sold in just 6 hours with extra dates being announced to meet demand.

Obviously this poll is fairly recent and as take that are in the headlines continuously, they are bound to be at the top of the list with the people that are likely to vote in this poll. Lets face it, I don't think that too many Beatles fans would be voting.

The Beatles were the best at what they did in their time and Take That are the best in theirs.

Everyone knows the Beatles are the best and always will be however i do like New Kids on the Block along with most of the "boy bands", NKOTB are now back after 14 yrs.

WOW. You're ALL wrong. The greatest boy group ever, is actually a Korean boy group by the name of TVXQ. They have the biggest fanclub in the world. It's called "Cassiopeia" and it has over 800,000 members. (And that's ONLY counting the Korean members) If you don't believe me, then look it up. Or go out and buy the 2009 issue of the Guinness Book of World Records^^

They really are the whole package. They're all pretty young, all good looking, all of them have voices that could rival Christina Auguleria, and their music is...amazing.

I suggest you watch some of their vids on YouTube. My personal favorites are "O", "Rising Sun", "Triangle" and "Balloons"

I can't wait for their new album to drop in a few days :DDD

I how can take that be the best boyband in the world,they couldn't last five minutes with out Robbie William,Westlife are the best boyband ever because they lasted without brian mcfadden and they become bigger and better band without him

Well, I'm surprised just Backstreet Boys came after Westlife and Boyzone. Nothing against either band anyway- I love them all.
