Hutt Valley singer/songwriter Brooke Fraser has won the Australasian Performing Right Association's Silver Scroll award for her song Albertine.
Fraser, who is on tour in Europe and returns home for a national tour of New Zealand next month, said she was honoured to receive the award.
"It is humbling to accept an award from my songwriting peers," she said.
Brooke thanked her Rwandan friends who inspired the song, Joel and Albertine.
Albertine relates their pair's tale of courage in the Rwandan genocides of a decade ago.
