A representative for Hollywood star Eva Mendes has denied reports that quoted the actress as saying she had sex "in all 50 states" of America.

In widely reported comments, Mendes supposedly discussed taking the raunchy road trip with a boyfriend when she was younger.

"I've had sex in all 50 states," she was quoted as saying. "A lot of it was on a road trip I took when I was younger."

But a representative for Mendes said it was a "complete fabrication" and "entirely untrue".

"In fact, Ms Mendes wasn't even present at the event at which these comments were supposedly made.

"The entire thing is absurd and offensive."
