Legendary rock band The Who, one of the biggest names in rock music history, have announced they will perform in New Zealand in March.

Led by surviving members Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey, the British rockers will perform at North Harbour Stadium on March 21.

They last performed here in 1968. Their biggest songs include My Generation, Who Are You and The Kids Are Alright.

The band's original line-up included Keith Moon, who died in 1978, and John Entwistle, who died in 2002.

The current line-up includes Zak Starkey - the son of Beatles star Ringo Starr - on drums.

Ticket details are yet to be confirmed.

As a an expat Scot living in NZ you have to take these opportunities to go and see legendary bands when they visit. Caught the Stones in Auckland and they were awesome. The WHO will always be one the 'must see' bands of all time. I want to see that 'history' and want to catch them in NZ

Yep, I'm there. All you haters can rot.

A shame it's only in Auckland, but worth the mish from Welly. Thanks to all the people who have given their thoughts about recent performances, it sounds like even with only 2 suriving members, they still know how to put on a great show. Be a fool not to go.

Cant wait! - I hope ticket prices arent over the moon though!

Defintely. I grew up with these guys; have seen them countless times and first saw them in a small club in Brighton (UK)in 1965. How was I to know they would develop into being the greatest rock band ever. I'm looking forward to this being the best gig in NZ for years!

A real shame for Oasis fans that Starkey went back to The Who but their loss is our gain. What a great line up of rock and roll!

Yes i will be there. I saw them twice in Wellington in 1968 with The Small Faces and Paul Jones which was the last night of their " Down Under Tour ". In fact I have a photo of me and Keith Moon taken outside the Waterloo Hotel not long after they arrived as well as a lot of pic's I took at the show. So even though it is The Two I am sure they will be as dynamic as the original The Who.
