Jesse Metcalfe is in a wheelchair and can barely walk after falling more than 12 metres from a balcony in Monaco - an accident which knocked the Desperate Housewives star unconscious.
The actor - who was spotted in a North London hospital on Monday night - had the accident after hosting the World Music Awards in Monaco last weekend.
Metcalfe was reportedly sitting on the ledge of a balcony at top nightspot Jimmy'z when he fell backwards over the edge.
The 29-year-old was found unconscious, face down on the ground with a fractured leg.
A representative for the actor said in a statement: "Jesse had a nasty accident in Monaco, where he was hosting the World Music Awards on Sunday. At the after party, he fell off a balcony.
"He fell about 40 feet, down two floors. He was unconscious, and was taken to hospital in Monaco.
"But he is now back in London. He was taken to hospital and they kept him in overnight. He is having an MRI scan this afternoon, and we hope he will be given the green light to come home."
A spokesman close to the star said: "Jesse knows he's had a very lucky escape. The accident could have been fatal.
"It was a very scary experience for him and those of us who saw him. It was a nasty fall.
"I have just come from the hospital and he is bearing up okay. He can barely walk as he hasn't got much movement in his legs."
It was recently reported Jesse, 29, was furious with organisers of the awards ceremony after being left stranded on stage when the video he was meant to be introducing wasn’t ready.
Jesse was also kept waiting for two hours because the start of the ceremony was delayed.
A source said: "Jesse was a little frustrated as he thought the production side of things was shambolic and disorganised.
"A lot of things happened that shouldn't have".
