British rock act Blur have announced they are reuniting for a one-off show after the band's members settled their differences.

The iconic Britpop band - which once had a legendary feud with fellow rockers Oasis - will perform at Hyde Park in London on July 3.

It will be the band's first show since guitarist Graham Coxon quit in 2002.

NME reported front man Damon Albarn as saying the pair had put their differences behind them.

"It just felt it was right again," said Albarn.

"It somehow feels like there's something for us to do again, we're not completely useless or pointless, we've got a reason to exist."

Coxon said the band was "making public what's been going on a little bit privately".

"For the benefit of the fans and those interested we can say that something's on the cards".

The band is also rumoured to be performing at next year's Glastonbury music festival.

Blur released several chart-topping albums, including 1993's Modern Life Is Rubbish, 1994's Parklife, and 1997's self-titled Blur.

...and it just gets better... I just read The Stone Roses might be reforming - if the rest of the band can twist Ian Brown's arm... :-)

Another band who never really made it making a come back - who cares they were average then and will always be average.

I find it funny how people say it was a war between Oasis and Blur but Blur never made it at least Oasis were the biggest band in the world for a few years!!

Blur are much different from/better than oasis. Oasis blatantly rip off other artists (they admit that themselves) and yet still write songs that sound exactly the same.

At least blur had the artistic tenacity to try new things. I'm stoked.

Good God, it's not 1995 anymore, you don't have to choose between Blur and Oasis, you can like both. I do, and my life is better for it. It's good to have them back.

Great, great news. Time has proved that Blur were one of the best bands of the 90's - certainly they had more to offer than most of the mediocre 'Britpop' acts that sound thin now (and I was 19 in 1995 - it was my soundtrack)

Oasis aspired to be The Beatles but really were just the 90's Rolling Stones - derivative of their heroes. Blur were that era's Beatles - smart, funny, innovative and challenging.

Agreed!

I'm over the moon! Albarn is simply a musical and lyrical genius, and Coxon is a magician with the guitar - but as a collective unit, they offer a sound and lyrics that really gets you listening and appreciating. As for oasis, yep, agreed that they produced some brilliant tracks, but unlike Blur, they were unable to evolve and stuck with what worked at the start. Blur take risks and aren't afraid to try something new. loved their concert last time they tourned nz, Would absolutely love for them to make an appearance back here. Hope they release a new album - would be very interesting to see where they are at musically!
